  • A Meeting Of The Local Governing Body

Thu 13 Feb 2020 Mrs Hornsey
Six times a year, the Local Governing Body meets. The governors hold the school leaders to account for the decisions that are made in school. They make sure the curriculum is strong and supports the visions and values of the school. Items on tonight’s agenda included a presentation about the new Ofsted framework, a look at the new Self Evaluation Form that the senior leadership team have been working on, and reports from the recent visit that a group of governors made to school. The governing body give up their time as volunteers to support the school and are valued critical friends that help us deliver the highest standards of education.
  • The Magic Of Dance

Thu 13 Feb 2020 Mrs Hornsey
Year 5 and 6 have been choreographing dances which express conflict. As they have been studying Harry Potter in their English and had created their own wands in Design Technology, they used these to inspire their work. You can see from the pictures how much they enjoyed creating and performing their magical sequences of moves.
  • Polar Explorers Day

Thu 13 Feb 2020 Mrs Elliot
Key Stage 1 children have been learning all about the poles of the earth in their Geography this term. This gives them knowledge about contrasting climatic regions and their positions. They have linked this to their history, gaining knowledge of significant explorers and their achievements given the lack of technology they had.  Today they have had a Polar Explorers Day and been engaged in lots of practical activity. They have been making flags, searching for animals using orienteering around the site, baking high energy polar cakes, and best of all, having a sledge race!  Teams raced against each other to carry their equipment from base camp to the pole!
  • Organisation Is The key!

Wed 12 Feb 2020 Mrs Vickers
Today Wrens Year 4 class presented an assembly to school about the importance of organisation.  This has been a theme of their PSHCE lessons, and they decided themselves they wanted to share what they had learned.  They identified the benefits of being organised and gave us some top techniques for organising ourselves both for school and at home.

How many teeth does a dinosaur have? Barn Owls Nursery class have been counting!  The community dentist visited this week, and introduced them to her puppet dinosaur. They then talked about how important it is to brush your teeth, and what foods are best to eat.  Some children had their own teeth counted by the dentist, and were rewarded with a shiny sticker.
  • Victory In Marcham

Tue 11 Feb 2020 Mrs Hornsey
Congratulations to our football team who won 2-1 today against Marcham. This was the second game in the Vale of the White Horse small schools’ league. The goals were scored by Ashton and Aurin in an exciting first half. It was beautiful sunshine but bitterly cold, but nobody seemed to notice. We are very proud of them.

  • Are Clothes Important?

Mon 10 Feb 2020 Mrs Hornsey
Falcons class have been thinking about how our choice of clothes reflects our beliefs.  Today we had a bit of fun trying on lots of different head wear and deciding what it might say about us.  Some clothes express our preferences, some identify us as part of a group, and some are practical to protect us. We have learned that in some of the world's wisdom traditions, clothing reflects beliefs about how God wants followers to be.
