You are welcome to come and visit the school. Please arrange to do this via the school office at: office@sutton-courtenay.school

Admissions to Nursery

If you would like your child to start at our nursery, you will need to complete a Nursery Class Admissions Enquiry form, available below.  You are very welcome to see our Nursery Class in action, please contact the school office to arrange a visit.

Children are admitted to our nursery the term after they turn three. Terms start in September, January and after the Easter break in April. Once your place has been confirmed there will be settling in visits prior to your child starting with us.

Please note that the school directly allocates the spaces in nursery, but we follow the Oxfordshire County Council maintained nurseries admissions policy, and you can find a copy of the latest policy on admissions to nursery below.

Admissions to Reception

In Oxfordshire all children are now admitted to start school in September of the school year they will become 5 and our admission number is 30.

The procedure for admission to school is set out in our Admissions Policy and you will need to fill in the admissions form in the Autumn of the year before your child is due to start school. You are very welcome to visit us when you are making your choice. Please contact the school office to make an appointment. You must still apply for primary school place even if your child already attends the nursery. There is no automatic transfer between the two.

You can find details of Oxfordshire County Council Primary and Infant School key admission dates here. You can find further details about making a late application here.

We support the right of parents to defer entry to the Reception class for one year if their child is born after 31st April and would benefit from this.

Transferring and moving schools in year

Children are, of course, welcome to join us at any stage in their primary school career. An experienced staff team and friendly children ease the time of transfer from one school to another for your child. If you are looking to change schools, please make sure that you have spoken to your child's current head teacher prior to your visit. We will arrange some 'ice breaker' days so that your child has a smooth transition into the school. If you would like your child to attend our school, please contact the school office to check if we have spaces and also to arrange a visit to the school.

All admissions in-year are also controlled by Oxfordshire County Council. Please see link below for their website, which contains guidance and the online application form you will need.

Current Availability

Over the last five years the school has grown from 85 to over 190 pupils, and is set to grow even further in the future.  Due to the small class structure that we have in place to accommodate this growth we do have limited spaces in some year groups in KS1 and KS2. Please do contact the school for further details.
