Visions and Values

Love life; love learning; love one another

Our Vision

We work to provide our children with strong foundations on which to build their lives through core values and the love of each other.

"Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on a rock."  Matthew 7 v24

Our Values

Our values are embedded in all aspects of school life, rooted in fundamental Christian principles. They are reflected in our restorative approaches and form the basis of our restorative approaches and are also our school rules.

Ready

 Readiness…

Be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. (2 Timothy 4:2)

Respectful

Respect…

Have the same respect one for another, not minding high things, but going along with the lowly: be not wise in your own eyes. (Romans 12:16)

Responsible

Responsibility

Let us be judged as servants of Christ, and as those who are responsible for the secret things of God. (1 Corinthians 4:1)

Let the children tell you about our values...

Preparing Children for Life in Modern Britain

At Sutton Courtenay Primary School we take very seriously our responsibility to prepare children for life in modern Britain. We ensure that the fundamental British Values are introduced, discussed and lived out through the ethos and work of the school. All curriculum areas provide a vehicle for furthering understanding of these concepts and, in particular, our RE, PSHE and Citizenship lessons provide excellent opportunities to deepen and develop understanding. Children embrace these concepts with enthusiasm and demonstrate a good understanding of their application to their own lives.

The school makes considerable efforts to ensure children have exposure to a wide experience beyond their local community during which these concepts are shown, through for example, sporting events, a range of visits, media engagement and use of outdoor education centres. Their strong rooted values-based understanding gives them an excellent platform for embracing difference.

We frequently engage with the media and have appeared on television for various reasons, such as the delay to our building works, our protest painting of the builders' fences, and the joys of our school dog Cessy.
Here you can see us debating parliament for the programme Sunday Politics.

Encouraging participation

Our visions and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens.

Rising To A Challenge
