  • Last Minute Technical Fixes

Fri 20 Mar 2020 Mrs Hornsey
Most people have now logged in at home and been able to access their tasks on Google Classroom. We have all worked really well together to make this happen- staff, children and parents alike. Today we sorted out a few last hitches. Do let us know if you are having difficulties next week. We still have staff in school and we want to help you feel confident with this.
  • The Last Day

Fri 20 Mar 2020 Mrs Hornsey
There was a very unreal atmosphere in school today- normality mixed with the knowledge that things are not in any way normal. The children played and learned together for the last time for a while. The oldest in the school taught the youngest. And look at the pictures- we have pasta! Then suddenly it was the final assembly. Reverend Helen joined us for prayers. We reminded the children that the school is very much still here and hey are still part of it even though they won’t be wearing their uniform for a while. And then we said goodbye to each other for a while.
  • Wacky Races

Thu 19 Mar 2020 Mrs Potter
It as Wacky Races Day in Barn Owls Nursery today!  The children have been making cardboard boxes into vehicles at home this term, and today they assembled in the hall for a parade. It was amazing to see some of the fabulous creations.
  • Creating Work Packs

Thu 19 Mar 2020 Mrs Hornsey
It’s been all hands on deck today as we prepared the work packs for children to take home today. The photocopier has been in continuous use!  It felt very strange at home time today to be sending the children home with their PE kits and packs. I think the reality is going to hit us on Monday morning.
  • Another Strategy Meeting

Wed 18 Mar 2020 Mrs Hornsey
After school today teachers met again to make further plans for setting work remotely using Google Classroom. All teachers and classes have now set this up and children who are old enough have practiced logging in and seen how their work will be set out. Teachers agreed tips and expectations for how much work would be set when. We ironed out a few technical difficulties too. Thank you to Mrs Vickers who led the session.
  • Mission Control

Wed 18 Mar 2020 Mrs Hornsey
We need to give a special shout out this week to Mrs Appleyard. All week, like the teachers, she has been doing her usual day job and then working long hours supporting us to prepare for the possibility of school closure. She has been producing lists, making up packs, sorting out pupil registration on online platforms, and answering endless calls and e- mails. And all of this with her bright smile and unflappable calm. Thank you, Mrs Appleyard!
  • Around The Playground

Wed 18 Mar 2020 Mrs Hornsey
Mrs Greenough and Aurin are busy working on the outside okay area for Year 1. Everyone has enjoyed a mild and dry playtime. And the wall flowers are in full bloom!
  • Preparations For Home Learning

Wed 18 Mar 2020 Mrs Hornsey
In preparation for a potential school closure, we are planning lessons via Google Classroom. We are spending time this week familiarising the children with the interface and how to access their learning at home. In assembly today we talked to the children about how they will have to be much more responsible for their own learning.
  • Fun Around School

Wed 18 Mar 2020 Mrs Hornsey
We are short staffed today, and this head meant we have needed to be flexible. Some classes have been combined. However, we have had lots of fun together!
  • Media Stars

Wed 18 Mar 2020 Mrs Hornsey
This morning at 7.45am Josh, Erin and I gathered in my office to speak to Radio Oxford on the phone. They wanted to know what the children had learned about the Coronavirus, and how they were feeling. Later on in the morning, the BBC arrived to film in Falcons class. The children were linked up via Skype with Ms Parks niece in South Korea and had prepared questions about life in lockdown. It was wonderful to link up with others across the world and understand how the current crisis in uniting people across the globe.
