Term 1

Term 1 Week 7 We Are Going On A Bear Hunt

We have loved telling this story! We have watched Michael Rosen tell it as well. We have joined in with musical instruments whilst an adult reads it. We have made bear masks. We have been on our very own Bear hunt and expereinced all the textures with our fingers - trying to guess what part of the story it might have been. Have a look at the wealth of pictures with your Barn Owl and see how much they can tell you.

Term 1 Week 6 The Little Red Hen

This week we have been reading the story of the Little Red Hen. We have thought about all the different jobs that the hen had to do all by herself. The Barn Owls have been very busy and helpful, unlike the hen's friends in the barn yard!

We have made windmills and stick puppets to retell the story. The Barn Owls have been great at following instructions to make some flat bread too.

There have been obstacles in the garden to help us navigate and work together. The tunnels and the ladders were enjoyed by everyone.

Term 1 Week 5  The Gingerbread Man

This week we have been reading the story of The Gingerbread Man. We have enjoyed acting out the story and running around the nursery garden singing "run, run as fast as you can. You can't catch me, I'm the gingerbread man".

The Barn Owls have been thinking of ways for the gingerbread man to cross the river by building bridges in the water tray with the connecting tubes.

They have also been using their fine motor skills to decorate a gingerbread man biscuit, which we all enjoyed eating too!

On the windy days we have been using the ribbon sticks to make shapes and patterns.

Just like the rest of the school, we have also been thinking about Harvest time. We made crowns of wheat and sang our Big Red Combine Harvester song.

Term 1 Week 4

We have been reading and acting out the story of 3 Billy Goats Gruff. We have built bridges big and small. We have lots of fun pretending to be the troll or thinking what else might be under the bridge like a crocodile. We also celebrated one of our Barn Owl friends birthday.

Term 1 week 3:

This week we have been reading The 3 Little Pigs. We have explored different materials to use to build houses. We have constructed large houses we can hide in, small house we can put mini figures in and we have also had a go at using playdough to make our own characters. We even turned ourselves into some of the characters with head masks. Please do have a look at the photos with your child and encourage them to tell you the story of the 3 little pigs. We would love any 'wow' moments to come back about your Barn Owls retelling the story.

Term 1 Week 2

We have continued to enjoy reading Goldilocks and the three bears this week. Just like the bears and Goldilocks children  made and tasted porridge.
Barn Owls have been taking turns and sharing whilst we played parachute games.

They have also been great at using the timer to wait for their turn in the cars and tractor, making sure it is fair!

There has also been brilliant teamwork when playing the musical instruments together.

Well done everyone on a great first full week together.

Term 1 Week 1

We have enjoyed our first week back and meeting all our new Barn Owl friends.

Our story for the first two weeks is Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Our Wendy House has become the three bears cottage. We have been pouring and exploring with porridge oats and painting characters from the story.
