  • Falcons visit the River Room

Fri 18 Sep 2020 Zoe Parks
Falcons Class took advantage of the beautiful weather this week and walked through the village to the River Room at All Saints’ Church. Mrs Hornsey has visited last week and a careful risk assessment had been drawn up with Reverend Helen. The children were able to see the magnificent new stained glass window which has been commissioned specially to complement the colours of the glass in the main church. Thank you Helen for making us so welcome!
  • A great start in the kitchens

Thu 10 Sep 2020 Stacey Carbon SBM
Congratulations to our kitchen staff, Mrs Greenough and Terri. Of all the schools in the local area, we have had the highest ratio for take up of school meals so far this term. Thank you to all parents who have encouraged their children to take up this healthy, balanced meal option each day. Remember, if your financial circumstances have changed recently, speak to Mrs. Appleyard as you may be able to claim free school meals.
  • Specialist teachers from our secondary partners

Thu 10 Sep 2020 Rachel Hornsey
Today we welcomed Miss Slater and Mrs Melidis to school. They are both specialist teachers from Didcot Girls’ School. Miss Slater taught PE and Miss Melidis taught music to Red Kites and Falcons classes. This is an example of how working in a small MAT like Ridgeway Education Trust can give our children the very best learning experiences.
  • Everyone back and settled

Sat 05 Sep 2020 Rachel Hornsey
It’s been a fantastic first week back. The children have been wonderful and have followed the new rules perfectly. Within a couple of hours it felt like we had never been away. Well done to the whole school community. We all worked hard together to make this happen and I feel proud that we have done so well for our children.
  • Ms Parks Trains Us Remotely

Tue 01 Sep 2020 Mrs Hornsey

As you may know, Ms Parks is still in quarantine after her trip to Croatia. As maths leader in our school, she was keen to run our maths training today as part of our preparations for the school year, and nothing was going to stop her!  Ms Parks ran the training from her home using Microsoft Teams. It felt very strange but it seemed to work very well.

Then when Falcons class came back, Ms Parks even taught them remotely. The children loved it and adapted very well to yet another new way of working.
