Polar Explorers Day
Key Stage 1 children have been learning all about the poles of the earth in their Geography this term. This gives them knowledge about contrasting climatic regions and their positions. They have linked this to their history, gaining knowledge of significant explorers and their achievements given the lack of technology they had. Today they have had a Polar Explorers Day and been engaged in lots of practical activity. They have been making flags, searching for animals using orienteering around the site, baking high energy polar cakes, and best of all, having a sledge race! Teams raced against each other to carry their equipment from base camp to the pole!
