Term 1

Week 7 - Our new sound this week is ck(which is a digraph - two letters representing one sound). We will continue to orally blend as well as practice blending to reads words. We have been learning about segmenting (hearing individual sounds in words). We will also use magnetic letters to make  and read words.

                               

Week 6 - Our new sounds this week are h and r. We will continue to orally blend as well as practice blending to reads words. We have been learning about segmenting (hearing individual sounds in words). We will also use magnetic letters to make  and read words.

 

Week 5 - Our new sounds this week are c, k and e. We will continue to orally blend as well as practice blending to reads words. We will also use magnetic letters to make words.

Week 4 - We learnt i, p, n. We also began to engage in oral blending (c-a-t cat) and blending to read as we put sounds together to make words. We have been playing a lot of blending games, e.g. put your hand on your h-ea-d. Touch your l-e-g. P-a-t your b-a-ck.

 

Week 3 - This week we have started learning new sounds and the letters that represent them. Each week we will learn 3 new sounds. When we  learn each sound , we use the language as follows - s as in snake, a as in apple, t as in teddy.

Phonics group activities

Week 2 - This week we are learning to hear the initial sounds in words and in our names. We are also learning about rhyme and alliteration. We are listening to rhyming stories, and singing rhyming songs.
