Term 1

Our topic this term is....

Superhero Me!

Within this topic we will be learning about significant individuals, Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole, and how they impacted the world. Linking to this in Science, we will be discovering the role of the human body and our five senses. Within RE we will be discussing what it means to care for others and how we can be our best self in PSHCE.

This term we are also taking our time to revise and practice our letter formation each day within 1-1 handwriting sessions.

Such a fun week! Walks, Art and blind folded obstacle courses to learn about the role of our eyes!

Watch our harvest festival performance!

Writing focus: 23/09/2024
Our first core text for this term is Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers.

This week a mysterious suitcase appeared filled with a flask, a rubber duck, a map of Antarctica and a torch.

The children then made predictions as to who this mysterious suitcase belong to!
We had predictions of, a scuba diver, an animal hunter and even an explorer!

The next day, we then discussed and orally rehearsed a question that we would ask a penguin if one was to turn up at our door - like in the book! We focused on the importance of a question mark and when to use one.

Following on from this, we analysed the picture of a sad penguin and discussed how he may be feeling. We then came up with synonyms for ‘sad’ and wrote a sentence using an adjective to describe the penguin. This linked to this week’s  PSHCE as we were learning about feelings.

Check back on Friday to see some photos of our writing and activities that we have done this week!

Every Friday we take a look at two children’s boxes. They present these to the class and talk about their items as part of our speaking and listening.
