Football Report

A note from Mrs Knight:

This week has been a busy and exciting week for football. On Tuesday we played our first game in the Small Schools' 7 a sied league. It was a home game against St Michaels, Steventon with Aurin, Josh, Harrison, Ashton, Tom, Aiden, Val, Rudie and Laila playing. At half time we were 1-0 down but in the second half we settled down and really started playing as a team, winning 3-2! Well done to all of the team and our scorers, Ashton with an amazing shot from the half way line and Rudie with 2 fanstastic goals.

Then on Thursday, following our win before Christmas at the Vale Small Schools 7 aside tournament, we went to the County Finals at Boundary Park. The team were Ashton, Aurin, Josh, Oswald, Val, Rudie and Jai, unfortunately Harrison was ill so we were without a sub. We were playing against Tetsworth Primary school who had won their tournament. It was a challenging first half in which we were down 2-0. However after half time we came out fighting and although the final score was 3-1 to Tetsworth it was an equal second half with a goal each. Ours came from Rudie in the final minutes of the game with a cracking pass from Val and beautifully placed tap in.

We were a little disappointed but should be extremely proud as it is the first time Sutton Courtenay has got this far in an event.

Thank you to the whole team for the commitment, hard work and sportmanship you have show across both games. I am looking forward to the rest of our league games, including one next week!
