  • Specialist teachers from our secondary partners

Thu 10 Sep 2020 Rachel Hornsey
Today we welcomed Miss Slater and Mrs Melidis to school. They are both specialist teachers from Didcot Girls’ School. Miss Slater taught PE and Miss Melidis taught music to Red Kites and Falcons classes. This is an example of how working in a small MAT like Ridgeway Education Trust can give our children the very best learning experiences.
  • Everyone back and settled

Sat 05 Sep 2020 Rachel Hornsey
It’s been a fantastic first week back. The children have been wonderful and have followed the new rules perfectly. Within a couple of hours it felt like we had never been away. Well done to the whole school community. We all worked hard together to make this happen and I feel proud that we have done so well for our children.
  • Ms Parks Trains Us Remotely

Tue 01 Sep 2020 Mrs Hornsey

As you may know, Ms Parks is still in quarantine after her trip to Croatia. As maths leader in our school, she was keen to run our maths training today as part of our preparations for the school year, and nothing was going to stop her!  Ms Parks ran the training from her home using Microsoft Teams. It felt very strange but it seemed to work very well.

Then when Falcons class came back, Ms Parks even taught them remotely. The children loved it and adapted very well to yet another new way of working.

  • A birthday in school

Thu 23 Apr 2020 Mrs Hornsey
Today Grace was in school because her mum is a key worker, so we celebrated her fourth birthday together. We decorated buns and placed the ones each child had made in their own labelled sunshines. Then we sang Happy Birthday and Grace blew out her candles.
  • The new term begins!

Mon 20 Apr 2020 Mrs Hornsey
As the new term starts in brilliant sunshine, parents and carers have been invited to make a trip to school part of their daily exercise. They have been collecting work packs for this terms maths lessons, as many of you have said you find it easier to work from printed sheets in some subjects. Social distancing rules have been strictly followed. We hope you like the packs!
  • Showing we care

Thu 16 Apr 2020 Ms Parks

It’s Thursday, which means that this evening we will all be standing at our doorsteps and clapping to show our appreciation for all those front line workers working to hard to help us through the crisis.

Today the children in school made this wonderful banner to display on the gate, so that even though school isn’t open at 8pm, we can show our gratitude.

  • Easter Drama

Wed 08 Apr 2020 Mrs Hornsey

Today Reverend Helen came into school and did some Easter drama with the children who are still in school. They acted out the Easter story, starting with Palm Sunday and acting right through to the resurrection.

Afterwards, everyone made paper flowed to decorate the cross, which Reverend Helen will display outside the church in Easter Sunday.
