Welcome to Red Kites Class - Year 5

Welcome to our Year 5 Class! This year is an exciting time as pupils prepare for their final year of primary school. They embark on deeper learning adventures, building critical thinking skills and exploring subjects in greater detail. Our classroom is a lively and stimulating environment, where each child's voice is valued and their contributions celebrated. Our dedicated teachers provide engaging lessons in math, reading, science, and art, encouraging pupils to be inquisitive and challenge themselves. With a focus on collaboration and independence, pupils learn to work together while also developing their unique strengths. We invite you to experience the dynamic and supportive atmosphere of our Year 5 classroom, where every pupil is inspired to achieve their fullest potential and prepare for the exciting challenges of their final year!

Our window to the world.

Red Kites love to read. As well as a wide range of text types in our reading scheme (that we use for independent reading) we also read together every day.

We are currently reading our first novel of the year, The Other Side of the Truth by Beverly Naidoo. 

We have a reading corner in our classroom with extra special books that we can read during independent reading and take home for additional reading. Many of these are linked to our learning but also include those our teachers have fallen in love with. Ideas for extra special books can be found in the Brilliant Books section of our webpage.
