Term 1

We celebrated the end of term with a Superhero Day with Kestrels class! We all dressed up as different superheroes and introduced ourselves at the start of the day. We then used our DT skills to make our superhero vehicles that we had designed prior. In the afternoon we had a set of different challenges including a superhero training obstacle course, creating your own superhero craft and designing a meal for a superhero using what we've learnt in Science this term.

This term our topic has been 'Superhero Me' which we have all really enjoyed! We especially enjoyed our Superhero Day!

In English we have been reading 'Superworm' and 'Supertato' and basing our writing around this. We have been creating and writing our own comic strips and writing our own super creature stories.

In Maths we have been looking at numbers to 20, counting in 2s, 5s and 10s and been looking closely at tens and ones in a number and the different ways we can represent this.

In Science with Mrs Hutchinson we have been learning about what humans need to survive, how to keep healthy and the different food groups.

In Topic we started by designing and making our own superhero masks. We have also learnt about real-life superheroes, focusing on people who help us, such as nurses, doctors, police etc.  We have also learnt about Florence Nightingale and Rosa Parks and learnt about why they are significant. We also really enjoyed making our own Superhero pipe cleaner people by wrapping wool around the pipe cleaners.

Well done for a brilliant start to the year Kingfishers!

We have been getting creative this week! We all chose a stone as our 'source' and then used bits of paper to see what we could create.
