Our class promise:

Kind hands, kind feet and kind words

Classroom rules and how you can help at home:

At home it would be really useful to chat to your child about the classroom rules:

kind hands, kind feet, kind words

Discuss with them what that means and also have a chat about what they could they do if they feel someone else is not using these rules. Encourage your child to talk to an adult, but most importantly to say very loudly 'stop'. This will ensure adults quickly help in all situations.

Key information and class updates:

Celebration assembly: Beginning this week, we will be going to celebration assembly on a Friday. Robins class will not participate in Star of the week; however, this is where we will recognise the children's reading achievements and award them their reading certificates. The assembly takes place in the hall each Friday at 14:40 and parents are welcome to attend.

Junk modelling: We are in need of some junk modelling resources for our topic this term. We would be grateful if you could bring in any small boxes, plastic lids and toilet roll tubes. Thank you!

Busythings: The login for busythings can be seen below. I will regularly assign different activities for your children to complete at home. There are also a number of games and different resources for you to explore.

Useful websites: If you scroll to the bottom of this page I have created an information section filled with useful websites to explore throughout the year. I will add to this as I find new resources. Please also let me know if you find anything you feel would be useful and I can add this for everyone.

Phonics sound pronunciation: If you go to the phonics page below, there is a video demonstrating how to correctly pronounce each sound.

Spare clothesCan you please ensure that your child has a bag of spare clothes in school. These clothes will be kept on their peg as these are useful in case of small accidents or getting too wet playing in the water.

Reading folders: Please ensure your child has their reading folder in school every Tuesday and Friday. I will place a reading folder box in the outdoor area for your child to place their folder into as they walk into class in the morning. Please record each read in your child's reading record. You can also record any work you do at home using the sound cards.

We subscribe to this fantastic website so you can enjoy excellent activities at home with your child, as well as the children using it in school.

The Robins class username and password is shown above. This will give you access to a range of activities suitable for their age. When you login there is an option for assignments - if you click on here you will see there are some short fun activities that I have assigned for your child to explore. We can print off any activities they complete and celebrate them in their learning journeys.

Our class topic

The Great Outdoors

This term we will begin by revisiting our Jubilee celebrations and finding out more about where the queen lives. This will lead to us finding out more about the great city of London and some of it's iconic landmarks. On a larger scale we will be exploring our planet Earth using both google Earth and Atlases, in addition to learning about different forms of transport. Finally, we will be revisiting a class favourite "We're going on a bear hunt" and coming up with our own version of the story titled "We're going on a flag hunt".

Throughout the term we will be practising for Sports day and getting ready for the exciting move to year 1.
