Welcome to Term 3!
This term we will continue to visit Forest School. We will also start going into assembly on a Friday.
This happens every Friday (except the first week back). Parents are invited to attend and there are plenty of chairs at the back of the hall. Each class has two children nominated each week for something that have achieved or that needs extra celebration for. The class teacher will introduce the children who are going up and once they are standing next to Mrs Hornsey it will be announced why they are proudly standing up in front of everyone. There is also an opportunity for children to collect any certificates that may have been awarded that week - this includes our reading certificates!
The children will also be collecting house points and each week the winning house will be announced (this is normally a very exciting time in the assembly!) There is also an opportunity for a house to win another reward for attendance. It is not always possible to let you know if your child is going up in assembly as nominations happen at any time during the week including Friday but you will know when your child is going up for a certificate because it will either be for the reading they have been doing at home or it will be for the smiles they are collecting in class. Once a child has collected 50 smiles they go and see Mrs Hornsey for a special sticker and their name is placed on display in the entrance hall. They normally come home wearing their sticker and will say they have got their 'bronze aware or silver'. In assembly that week on Friday they will go up and collect their bronze award which is a certificate and badge. It is encouraged for all children to wear their bronze/silver badge. In Robins class the children are all getting to close to achieving their bronze so do watch out for this. Unfortunately the badges are only replaceable through the office and cost £1 to replace.
